Leaving the library

I shared this news with my colleagues in the library and on Facebook a few weeks ago, and now it’s time to share it here: I have accepted a new position in the University’s HR Learning & Development office. My last day at Gorgas will be Friday, May 10, and I’ll begin my work in HR on Tuesday, May 14.

In my new position, Coordinator eLearning, I’ll coordinate online training in the Department of Human Resources’ Learning and Development area. My work will include administration of online learning management systems, marketing activities to increase utilization of eLearning tools, and working with units across campus to best utilize learning management systems for training needs. I’ll design and implement online courses and other eLearning solutions (podcasts, webcasts, mobile content, etc.); provide  eLearning technical support, documentation and training; and develop tools and methods to assess the effectiveness of eLearning activities. I also hope to continue contributing to technology accessibility efforts on campus.

It’s hard to say goodbye to the Libraries. I have great colleagues and have benefited from some wonderful opportunities during the last almost-three years. Most of all, I love being a librarian. I’m excited about this new role, though, and look forward to starting the next chapter of my work life.

I don’t expect to post as much here, at least not for a while, but you can keep up with me on Twitter.
